The Best Party City in Europe
Have you ever been in Belgrade? If you like rich and exciting nightlife, you should definitely consider Belgrade as your next destination. Belgrade is the best party city in Europe. I was lucky to be born in Belgrade and I spent the half of my life in this beautiful city. But this is not a reason why I claim that Belgrade is the best party city in Europe. I traveled a lot during the last 15 years, I visited wonderful places and had a lot of fun everywhere but nowhere else I found such a unique joyful and welcoming atmosphere that no one can resist.
First of all, Belgrade lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You don’t have to wait for Friday night to go out. Monday or Tuesday evenings are OK as well. There are bars and clubs everywhere, and for all tastes, from cozy jazz clubs to lounge bars and nightclubs with a huge variety of music styles where you can dance wildly until dawn. And they are usually crowded from Monday to Sunday.

I recommend that you start the evening with a dinner in the sophisticated, elegant, jazzy and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant Franš, certainly one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Belgrade.

Then, if the weather is nice, you can have a drink in the restaurant Kalemegdanska terasa http://kalemegdanskaterasa.com/en/gallery watching the sunset over the confluence of the Sava and the Danube or go to Galerija Štab where you can start warming up for the best part of the night.
Around midnight, it’s party time. Visit the hottest night clubs in Belgrade, most of them are situated on the floating boats (splavovi) on the river Sava so you can easily change the place if you wish to make the most of your party night.
Around dawn when you get tired of dancing and drinking and get a little bit hungry, there are many open food kiosks with excellent local specialties, the perfect place to cure the hangover.

Pa cao, Sta se radi? 😀 Hahaha. I’m also from Serbia and I love Belgrade and would recommend Novi Sad also. I’m from there and during summer people can come to Exit if they want to check out one of the best music festivals in Europe. However Belgrade is interesting all the time, whereas Novi Sad is really for the summer. Great post and it was really great reading about my country’s capital. 🙂
Cao Aleks i hvala za komentar! I’m always happy to discuss with my compatriots. You are right, I also love Novi Sad, I will consider writing a post about it 🙂
All the best,
Maja
I thought it was London or somewhere in Cyprus. Well, you know more than me when it comes to this category so no debate.
The fact you made where public bars and clubs are crowded everyday is one reason why it’s lively.
You mentioned that weather can play a part in warming up for nightlife. Just curious, what is the weather is quite cold and wintry?
Hello, and thank you for the comment. Well, every city has something special to offer. But Belgrade is not a very well known destination, and it really is unique when it comes to nightlife. I think that those who experienced it will agree with me. Regarding the weather, it can be quite cold in winter indeed, but the summer heat can be extreme as well, so the best time to visit Belgrade is spring or the beginning of summer, from April to June.

Great post and it was really great reading about Belgrad. Thank you very much for this rare to find info! Belgrade is not a very well known destination for me. I didn’t consider Belgrade as a destination with so rich and exciting nightlife. You wrote that Belgrad wass interesting all the seasons. And what about summer time?
Thanks in advance for your responce,
Zhanna
Hello Zhanna,
Thank you for your interest. Yes, the nightlife in Belgrade is rich and exciting at all seasons indeed. Summer is also a great period for going out in the evening but the problem is that during the day the temperatures can be very high, sometimes over 40°C. So if you travel to Belgrade for a few days, only to enjoy the nightlife, the summer is a great period, but if you want to do some sightseeing, taking a walk between 11am and 6pm is really not recommended. That is the reason why I always recommend spring as a perfect season to visit Belgrade in order to take advantage of everything that it has to offer.
Best wishes,
Maja
You make Belgrade sound like a great city to visit, and party! Belgrade seems to be overshadowed by other European cities. I’ve never been to Europe, but would like to go someday. How do they feel about Americans? When would be the best time to go? Thanks for this great article.
Hi Kevin,
Yes, Belgrade is indeed a great city to visit and party (and I’m not saying this only because it is my hometown :-)) I noticed that Americans don’t know much about countries in Southeast Europe and if you mention Serbia, Croatia or Bosnia most of them just know that there was a war. The truth is that the tough years are far behind now and Belgrade is and always was an openhearted city with cosmopolitan culture and tradition where everybody is welcome. The best time to visit Belgrade is definitely late spring and early summer (April, May, June), because summers are too hot.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.
Cheers
Maja
